When I watched Odysseus travel home from Troy I was a little upset that the war was over because it meant that I would have to wait longer for more subjects to rule over in the Underworld. I watched Odysseus travel for a long time but wasn’t very interested in what he did. I was happy when he and his men got into another battle at Ismarus where they fought their army and lost many men there. I was happy to see many more subjects enter the Underworld. I watched him as he traveled to many other islands without losing any men. Then he went to the Land of the Dead, which I wasn’t very happy about. When he finally left, I realized that he learned about his future and how he would die. I was glad when he lost the rest of his men when my brother Zeus sent down a lightning bolt that split Odysseus ship in half and sent his men flying off the ship. All his men had died soon after, but they were all trapped in the Land of the Dead forever. I was very bored when Odysseus had finally gotten back to his home in Ithaca, and he didn’t kill anyone for a while. So I waited for the time when Odysseus would kill the suitors. When Odysseus finally started killing the suitors with the help of his son and others, I was very happy to see how many more people would enter my realm. Soon, however, I realized that none of the men that Odysseus killed in his house would ever make it past the River Styx into the Underworld because they would not be given a proper burial. That fact made me very angry, but I knew there was nothing I could do about. Someday I will have Odysseus’ soul.
